BEREA—We did it! Yesterday, we wrapped our series of 15 minute video interviews of all the candidates for Berea City Council, Berea Mayor, and also two other offices, including the 81st District state house race, and the US Senate race.

Not everyone took us up on our invitation, but we invited everyone for all races we covered in this series.

For the federal races, we did speak to all the other candidates earlier this year. All those interviews can be found here. These include our sit-downs with Zach Dembo (D) and Ralph Alvarado (R).

Currently, all videos are on the Let's Grow Berea Facebook page. That's because Let's Grow Berea and StreamGoMedia were our media partners for this project. Disclaimer: both outlets are managed by Anthony Hudson, husband of Berea City Council candidate, Gina Hudson. The Edge's affiliation with Let's Grow Berea and StreamGoMedia does not constitute an endorsement of Gina Hudson's campaign.

All candidates, across the races (local, state, federal) who either didn't respond or declined our invitation, are welcome to write an editorial which we will publish in their entirety.

Huge shout out to StreamGoMedia's Aaron Lang and Hunter Saylor for all their help in putting these videos together. Anthony Hudson did hours of post-production work and also oversaw the transfer of all the videos to the websites. Thank you!

Format notes

In order to avoid any question about how the interviews were edited, we didn't edit them. Instead, we used one camera, one angle, and limited the conversations to 15 minutes per candidate. If there were mistakes, then we kept them. This approach means you get to see the candidates "in the raw".

All candidates were given the same list of questions ahead of time, relevant to their individual race. Before each interview, we let the candidates choose which topic they felt most passionate about to begin our discussions.

We are now uploading the videos to our brand new video channel, so keep checking back as we get them all posted. There are 15 videos total. Meanwhile, you can find them all on the Let's Grow Berea Facebook page.
