RICHMOND—Amid calls for change from challengers, tonight's general election results returned four out of five incumbents to City Hall.

Commission

Krystin Arnold took incumbent Jim Newby’s seat by 94 votes. Arnold was previously a Commissioner in 2020 and lost the mayoral race to then-incumbent Robert Blythe in 2022 by 1,845 votes.

Mike Brewer, who has served on the Commission for 18 years, now returns for another while Tammy Cole and Mendi Goble will return to office for their third term each.

Mayor

Blythe, who has been mayor since 2018 and served as a Commissioner for 16 years prior to that, won by a landslide against challenger, Ed McDaniel. By statute, this is the last term Blythe can serve as mayor.

There were a total of 39,320 ballots cast in Richmond. Forty-one percent of eligible voters in the county cast ballots in the general election, which was the expected turnout for the general election, County Clerk Kenny Barger told The Edge's media partner, WBON-TV in an election coverage segment.

Current tallies are unofficial, pending any re-counts. Results must be certified by the state, and official vote totals will be announced November 10.
